  1. Always and constantly wash your hands. Regardless of whether you are about to insert the contacts into your eyes or you will remove it to your eyes, you have to wash your eyes. If in any case you need to hold your lenses, make sure that your hands are clean by washing your hands with clean water and soap. When you wash your hands with soap, make sure that you have rinsed it thoroughly with water and that no residue will be left in your hands.   2. Wear your contacts. It is important to follow instructions from the eye care specialist in wearing your contacts. Wear only as prescribed. There are instances wherein contacts are to be worn only for a certain time or for a specific purpose only. Again, wear only as prescribed.
  3. Keep your contacts clean. In doing so, it is equally important that the contact lens holder of your lenses is clean and maintained as well. Use only products that are recommended by your eye care specialist. Always clean and disinfect your contacts every after use in order to sterilize the same and remove all sort of build-up of protein and other deposit. Use only contact lens solution and never use water to cleanse your lenses.
  4. When cleaning your contacts, make sure to lightly and gently rub the contacts in the palm of your hand with your index finger. This is to ensure that all deposits that have accumulated one way or another will be removed. Avoid tearing your contacts or it will be unusable.
  5. Never allow other people to wear your contacts more so for you to wear other people’s contacts especially those that have been previously worn already. This sharing of contacts might lead to serious eye problems as diseases can be transmitted through the eye as well. You just have to be careful and sensitive in terms of these kinds of practices.
  6. It will help you to wear sunglasses when necessary to avoid the dryness of the eyes especially when you are exposed to sunlight. Lubricate your eyes as frequently as possible to prevent it from drying. Use your recommended contact lenses cleaning solution to do this.
  7. Make sure that you will not sleep with your contact lenses except when you are wearing extended wear contacts or day and night contact lenses.
  8. Do not rub your eyes when contacts to avoid irritation and avoid tearing your contacts.
